Exploring and conserving New Zealand caves
By creating opportunities for caving, and encouraging cave users to join NZSS.
By working with LandSAR, the Police, NZ SAR, and through providing training.
Through research, advocacy, education, and liaison with land managers.
The New Zealand Speleological Society Incorporated (NZSS) is the national body for recreational caving in New Zealand. We promote the sport of caving, the exploration of caves, and the conservation of caves and karst landscapes. NZSS also operates the NZ Cave Search and Rescue system on behalf of LandSAR and SAR NZ. The membership is mainly made up of members of affiliated local clubs.
